We have been to the picturesque Comporta and Porto and have selected the best that these places have to offer.
The first destination was Comporta on the west coast of Portugal, which stands out for its laid-back luxury and peacefulness. It is surrounded by vast rice fields, wild white sand beaches and pine forests. This region is popular with artists, celebrities and nature lovers looking to escape the crowds and bustle of the big cities. With limited development, it retains its quiet, unspoilt character, making it a popular destination for those who prefer privacy and a unique connection with nature.
In Comporta we had the opportunity to visit the Quinta da Comporta, Sublime Comporta and Independente Comporta hotels.
Quinta da Comporta is a boutique hotel focused on harmony with nature and sustainable design. Stylish accommodation inspired by local architecture, surrounded by rice paddies. The extensive spa or infinity pool with unconventional views of the fields is a unique experience. The hotel prides itself on its commitment to ecology and local craftsmanship, giving the entire stay an authentic and sustainable character. Interestingly, the hotel's architect is Miguel Cancio Martins, who also designed the world-famous Buddha Bars.
Independente Comporta offers authentic and modern accommodation with an emphasis on minimalism and natural materials. This boutique hotel is combined with a welcoming atmosphere, complete tranquillity and excellent service.
Sublime Comporta is a unique resort set in pine forests, offering sophisticated design with natural elements. Elegant accommodation in rooms and villas with private pools. The hotel focuses on wellness, gourmet cuisine using local ingredients and a sustainable approach. It is a great place if you are travelling with family or friends, as you can rent an entire villa with several rooms.
Not far from Comporta, we stopped in the small village of Melides, where the hotel of the famous French fashion designer Christian Louboutin is located - Vermelho Melides. Looking at this gem, you wouldn't dream of wondering what lies inside. The incredible design may not be everyone's cup of coffee, but we believe it's worth a visit. Christian Louboutin combines the impossible with the impossible here, but the overall impression is somehow compact and together the whole space entertains you. Each room is completely different, and we were particularly taken by the idea of painting one of the bathrooms. During the final construction processes, this bathroom served as a testing ground for the wall colours that would be used in the rooms. In the end, however, Christian liked the mix of colours so much that he had the entire bathroom painted to match it, and it literally plays with all the colours.
In Porto, we met with a local guide Lucie, who has lived here for 11 years and with whom we have been working for some time now, preparing unforgettable experiences for our incentive groups. Lucie is a specialist in the Douro Valley and Porto, thanks to her family ties to the wineries in the area. Porto itself will enchant everyone with its rich history, colourful houses and picturesque streets. We recommend a visit to the iconic Louis I Bridge with its panoramic views, the historic UNESCO-listed Ribeira district, or the famous Sé Cathedral. A real treat is a tour of the local wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, where you can taste the best of Port wine.
In Porto, we had the opportunity to visit the Pestana Vintage Porto hotel, which is unique because of its location on the banks of the Douro River in the historic centre of the city, offering guests a spectacular view. The hotel is housed in renovated 16th century buildings, combining historic charm with modern comfort. The interiors are inspired by the 1930s, adding to the elegant atmosphere. We then finished the day with dinner at Flow Restaurant, which offers a creative gourmet experience in a modern and stylish setting.
